Day 5 of our Road Trip was Boston. Our main goal with this road trip was to see 3 of the 5 top aquariums in the United States (Atlanta, Baltimore, and Boston). The other 2 are in Chicago and Monterey, CA. Due to protests and riots in Baltimore at the time, we decided to go to Philadelphia instead. That being said, we of course went to the New England Aquarium while we were in Boston.
One thing you should about me and aquariums is that I hate eels. They just look way too creepy to me, which gives my friends a source of amusement when they feel like being mean…Overall, the aquarium is great. It’s much smaller than the Georgia Aquarium, however, the New England Aquarium has some exhibits that the Georgia Aquarium doesn’t. For example, the aquarium in Boston has a variety of species of penguins, harbor seals, and sea lions.
We also decided to take on Boston’s Freedom Trail. I wouldn’t recommend walking the entire trail if you are not in shape or don’t like walking long distances.
Along the trail, we saw where the State House, Paul Revere’s grave, the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere’s house, Faneuil Hall, Bunker Hill Monument, and the USS Constitution. If you’re up for the walk and love history, I would definitely recommend doing a self-guided tour of the Freedom Trail. There’s a brick path (as shown in the picture to the left of the sign) that will keep you on the trail.
One thing we thought was funny (and if you know anything about how some in the United States Congress are, you understand why) was the quote from this statue of Samuel Adams we happened upon.
Lastly, you just never know what you might come across walking throughout a city. For example, when we came out of Faneuil Hall, we saw this street performer.
